Burning Eyes In A Pool
Item needed to fix burning eyes in a pool:
- Regular Household Bleach
The most common reason for burning eyes in a pool is a new vinyl pool liner.
New vinyl liners release gasses from the manufacturing process (off-gas) for up to 3 years after installation. The gases irritate eyes, cause pH to rise constantly, and cause the liner to feel slippery. Follow these steps to "cure" the liner and stop the off-gassing:
1) Lower the copper to .3 or below.
2) Use one gallon regular household bleach for every 10,000 gallons of water in the pool. Pour the bleach in the pool.
3) Continue this each week for 6 to 8 weeks.
4) The liner will be finished off-gassing (curing) when it no longer feels slippery.
