POOL TIP:  One of the reasons for cloudy water mid to late pool season is the potential loss of glass media during backwashing. Commonly a 300 lb filter would be 8-10” from the top of the filter while a 600 or 900 lb filter would be 10-13” down from the top. If the levels are deeper than this, then adding a bag of glass media would help fix the cloudiness. It is typical over the course of a 3 year span to lose about a bag of the media, so you can check your filter and see if it is time to top it off. You should also notice a flat even surface (no dunes or valleys or cave-ins to one side). If the surface has dunes or valleys, then soaking the media in chlorine or acid overnight would fix the channeling you are seeing. If there is a cave in, then you have a broken lateral in the filter, which needs to be fixed.
